A. Course Description:
It is the primary role of the ethics committee to safeguard the rights, dignity and well-being of human participants in research, toward this end, it is imperative to ensure the competence and capacity of the ethics committee members to review research protocols involving human participants. Although organizations were able to produce researches, majority of these were not able to undergo review of ethics committee because sometimes, a research committee does not exist or the role of the committee is not clear to its members. This course will inform ethics committee members of existing international and national guidelines which will impact on the research protocol review process and provide opportunities to apply these on selected cases.
