RITM serves as the research arm of the Department of Health for infectious and tropical diseases of public health importance. With our multidisciplinary study groups, we conduct clinical trials, epidemiologic research, surveillance research, basic research, and laboratory-based research.

To be of utmost relevance to the national health policy and strategy, our research efforts are directed towards the development of effective and efficient strategies for the control of infectious and tropical diseases including new diagnostic techniques.
